Today the New York Cosmos announced that they were approved a U.S Soccer Academy young players born in 2002 and 2003.  This approval will allow the club develop talent during the 2016 season . They will look at players in the New York Area , and expose them into a professional environment.

“This is a huge step for us” said Cosmos head coach Giovanni Savarese.  This sure is huge for the club , they will be able to scout players in the local area and bring them into their own youth setup. These young players will be able to join the professional environment which is very important , and play in competitive matches.

One of the goals of the club is to develop talent , which make it to the first team. This is the first step in reaching that goal . It won’t happen over night , it will take a couple of years .

Applications for the U-13 and U-14 age groups are still pending with U.S. Soccer and should be announced during the first few months of 2016.

Further announcements regarding open try outs for the U-12 age group will be made in the New Year.
