The New York Cosmos announced today that the club will play two more preseason in California. The first match is on Saturday Feburary 20  against Armenian first division side Ararat Yerevan FC, at Citrus College Stadium . This is the first time the Cosmos are going to face a international club on U.S Soil in the modern era. Alecko Eskandarian is Armenian and is very excited about this match.  “I’m very excited about the fixture against Ararat Soccer is a big part of Armenian culture so this game will no doubt have a lot of passion as well as support from the Armenian community” said Alecko Eskandarian the Cosmos assistant  coach and Cosmos B Head Coach.

The next match is against  Fresno Fuego on Wednesday, February 24 at Chukchansi Park ,  kick-off is at 6.30 p.m. PST. The Cosmos had a California trip before the 2015 season , and they are doing it once again . The Fuego play in the USL Premier Development League , and have earned four Southwest division titles since its debut match in 2003.

Having preseason in California is good for so many reasons . The Cosmos are able to play in warm climate. They are able to play some U.S Clubs and one international side from Armenia . Also the Cosmos are able to build a fanbase there. Since the Cosmos went to California for two consecutive preseasons , there has to be some soccer fans in Cali who are excited about this announcement and cant wait to see the boys in green .

Hopefully we hear some more preseason news. I would like to see the Cosmos go abroad and play the best clubs in their country.
