The Cosmos are coming off a tough lose in Indy and are on the road for the second time. This Saturday they take on Minnesota United FC.  Minnesota have won two of their last three matches. United is really coming together as a team lately , something the Cosmos have to watch out for.

Scouting the Opponent

Minnesota United is a very powerful team. One player you should watch out for is Christian Ramirez he has two goals on the season and I wouldn’t be surprised if he scored a couple of goals . United’s defense has been strong after week 1 .

The Cosmos are going to have few chances to score,  but they need to capitalize on the chances that they have. That is something that they couldn’t do last season in Minnesota and thanks to Raul we settled for a draw. With where the Cosmos stand in the table at the moment they need to go hoping to pick up three points if not at least a draw.

Last week the Cosmos struggled against Indy for the full 90 minutes. That has to change this week. Here are my keys to the match, for the Cosmos to get three points on the road:

  • Strong Defense – On the road last week against Indy the Cosmos backline was shaky . The backline needs to come out strong and stop one of the best strikers in the league Christian Ramirez . Which is going to be a very tough task.
  • We Need Jimmy!! – Jimmy didn’t travel with the squad to Indy because his wife gave birth but he was truly missed on the pitch. Jimmy is a big presence on the pitch and the type of player that we need going into the two biggest matches in the Spring Season.
  • Score First – This is a very important key. If they can find a way to score first, that would be a huge boost on the road.

If the three keys to the match pan out on Saturday night than I will be confident that the Cosmos can go back to New York with a good result.

Injury Update:

Last Saturday against Indy, Carlos Mendes asked to come out of the match. Giovanni has confirmed that Carlos had problems with his right hamstring. Carlos has trained throughout the week and is ready for this weekend if he has to play.  Lastly Gio added that “Danny Szetela  is progressing very nicely as well”.

Prediction: Cosmos 2 – Minnesota 1
