After a crucial 1-0 victory over Puerto Rico FC on Sunday, three New York Cosmos players have been recognized for their performance, being named into the NASL team of the week.

The first of the three is defender Jimmy Mulligan, who received his first team of the week inclusion this season. The 26 year-old completed all of his attempted tackles, tallying up five in the games 90 minutes. Mulligan’s three clearances helped the boys in green keep a clean sheet and earn all three points at MCU Park.

Midfielder, Javi Márquez, was also included in the leagues best XI for the week. The Spaniard found the games lone goal in the 73rd minute, slamming home past Puerto Rico keeper Trevor Spangenberg with his left foot. With his game winning goal, Márquez earned his place in the team of the week for the fifth time this campaign.

Fellow midfielder, Andrés Flores, also earned a spot in the team, making it two for the season. The El Salvadorian assisted Javi Márquez’s goal against PRFC, finding the 31 year-old with a clever through ball. Flores has the second most assists for the boys in green, tallying four on the season.

These three look to continue this form into this weekend when the Cosmos travel to take on Indy Eleven, Saturday at 7:30pm.
