After playing a month undefeated, two players from the New York Cosmos have been rewarded for their performances by being included in the NASL Team of the Month for October.
Midfielder, Andrés Flores, had a phenomenal month which he contributed heavily for the boys in green in their impressive run. The boys in green opened the month against Puerto Rico FC at MCU Park where a lone goal from Javi Márquez gave the Cosmos the win. Flores found the Spaniard in space on the left side of the box, leaving him to simply fire into the back of the net
The El Salvadorian picked up a pair or assists when the Cosmos took on the Armada on October 22nd. Flores assisted in both Eugene Starikov and Lucky Mkosana’s goals, helping his side leave Florida with a point.
Back again at MCU Park, Flores contributed yet another two assists in the Cosmos’ 5-2 victory over Puerto Rico FC. The 27 year-old set-up Emmanuel Ledesma’s curling goal that equalized the game at one a piece. He helped Lucky score in the fifth minute of stoppage time, taking a touch with his chest and finding the forward on his run to goal.
Cosmos leading goalscorer, Emmanuel Ledesma was also included in October’s team of the month. In the Cosmos’ trip to Indiana on the 7th, the Argentine had a hand in both of the teams goals, scoring one and assisting the other.
Down in Jacksonville on the 22nd, Ledesma sent defender, David Ochieng, through on goal, leading the Kenyan to score the game’s opening goal.
Ledesma had his best game of the season just this Saturday, contributing in four of the Cosmos five goals in their victory over Puerto Rico FC. The forward scored a second half hat-trick, scoring in the 51st, 56th and 67th minutes. Ledesma also sent in a phenomenal cross in the 75th minute, allowing captain Carlos Mendes to poke home the game’s fourth goal.
These two will play a crucial role in the Cosmos’ upcoming semi-final match when they travel to take on Miami FC on Sunday, November 5th at 5 pm.
